How Much In U.S. Card Purchase Volumes Did The Country’s Largest Card Issuers Report In Q2 2016?
The 6 largest U.S. card issuers reported total purchase volumes of around $445 billion for retail cards issued by them – nearly two-thirds of the total credit card purchase volumes for the U.S. for the quarter.
The credit card purchase volume for individual issuers is taken from their respective quarterly earnings releases. Figures for American Express and Discover represent purchase volumes only for cards issued by them, with purchases made on AmEx or Discover branded cards issued by other banks accruing to the total figure for the issuing bank. The total U.S. card purchase volume is as estimated by us in our previous article.
