What?

The production of Tesla’s (NASDAQ:TSLA) Cybertruck pickup has been delayed to 2022. The vehicle was initially slated to go hit the assembly line in the second half of 2021.

Although Tesla hasn’t outlined any specific reasons for the delay, the pickup uses some unique production techniques and materials such as Ultra-hard 30X Cold-rolled Stainless Steel for the body, which could be taking time to develop and scale up. The ongoing semiconductor shortage could also have hurt the company’s timelines for the vehicle.

So What?

Tesla stock largely brushed off the news, rising by about 2% in Monday’s trading, as the truck was unlikely to have really moved the needle for the company’s 2021 sales with a launch later this year.
