What Sherwin-Williams Said On Its October 27 Call

During that call, Sherwin-Williams reported third-quarter revenue of $6.86 billion, up 7.9% from a year earlier. Management said volume has grown in every quarter so far in 2026, and an 8% price increase that took effect on September 1 is tracking as planned.

Profit on each sale narrowed, however. Third-quarter gross margin declined to 47.8% from 49.2% in the same quarter a year earlier, and management said higher raw material and supply chain costs were the main reason. Management also cited dilution from an acquisition alongside faster growth in lower-margin segments. For 2027, management expects raw material inflation in the low to mid single digits, with the largest impact in the first half.

Management narrowed its full-year outlook to adjusted earnings per share of $11.85 to $12.15, keeping the $12 midpoint unchanged. Sherwin-Williams stock fell 2.7% on the day of the call.

Did Sherwin-Williams Rise On Its Own?

No. Four of its five listed peers rose the same session. PPG Industries gained 4.5% and RPM International added 5.2%, while Dow was the one peer that fell. 3M rose 2.3% and Eastman Chemical rose 0.4%. The XLB fund, which tracks the materials sector, rose 1.8%, against a 0.5% fall for the S&P 500.

Sherwin-Williams moved with most of its peers and its sector on a down day for the broad market, logging a gain larger than any of theirs.

Where Sherwin-Williams Stock Stands Now

A rise this large is uncommon for Sherwin-Williams. The stock posted two rises at least this big over the prior 365 days, the latest an 8.3% gain on July 28, 2026.

From its October 30, 2025 close to November 2, the stock returned 2.2%, against 11.8% for the S&P 500. Its closing price ranged from a low of $293.00 on June 2, 2026 to a high of $372.60 on February 12, 2026, and it now trades nearer the high. Much of the climb from that low occurred between October 2 and November 2, a period when the stock returned 10.3% while the S&P 500 lost 2.3%.

Trading at 3.4 times sales, Sherwin-Williams is priced about in line with the S&P 500 at 3.3 times.
