What Else Happened The Day Copart Stock Rose?

Crude prices slid on November 2. News reports said investors were bracing for a big week ahead, with Apple’s results, the midterms, and Friday’s jobs data on the schedule. A separate report on Canadian markets said that retreating oil prices cooled inflation fears. Broad market indexes declined that day, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 1.1%.

The cost of fixing cars shapes Copart’s business. The company sells vehicles at auction for insurers, banks, rental and fleet companies, and dealers. On its September 10, 2026 call, management said repair costs are up more than 50% from 2019 levels. When a repair costs too much, the insurer writes the car off. The share of claims ending in a write-off is called total loss frequency. Management said this rate reached 23.3% in the calendar second quarter of 2026, the highest second quarter on record. Management said it believes total loss frequency will continue to go up.

In the 365 days to November 2, shares reached their highest close at $43.00 on November 3, 2025. The lowest close of $26.27 came on October 14, 2026, and the stock has climbed since. The metric was up 12.7% from a year earlier in the fiscal fourth quarter of 2026.

Does This Mean You Should Act On CPRT?

Our purpose is to inform you with unique data so you make the right investment decisions. That said, betting on a single stock is always risky, no matter which direction you choose.

There is a smarter approach. Since its inception, the Trefis High Quality (HQ) Portfolio has returned 105%, beating the benchmark that combines the three major indices – the S&P 500, S&P Mid-cap, and Russell 2000. And it did so without taking the concentrated risk that comes with do-it-yourself stock picking. If that is how you want to invest, the HQ Portfolio is the place to start.
