Shares of ResMed (RMD) fell 9.1% on Friday, October 30, 2026, while the S&P 500 lost 1.8%. The decline came the day after the release of ResMed’s fiscal first-quarter 2027 results on October 29. The other companies on its peer list also traded lower that Friday, though their losses were smaller. So what did ResMed’s quarter show?

What Did ResMed Report On October 29?
ResMed topped analysts’ estimates for both earnings and revenue. The company posted adjusted earnings per share of $2.91, ahead of the $2.69 analysts expected. Revenue reached $1.41 billion, clearing projections for $1.39 billion.
Growth in sleep devices, masks and residential care software offset a decline in life-support device sales. Adjusted earnings per share were 14% higher than in the same quarter a year earlier.
Sales growth slowed, however. Revenue rose 5.9% from a year earlier, marking the slowest expansion of the past five quarters. That followed an 8.6% rise in the prior quarter.
Did ResMed Fall Alone?
While ResMed did not fall alone, it posted the steepest drop among its peers. Stryker dropped 6.4% and Inogen lost 5.5%. Inspire Medical Systems fell 4.3%, while Medtronic and Becton Dickinson declined 0.6% and 0.2%, respectively. Stryker reported third-quarter earnings and sales below estimates on October 29 and lowered its 2026 outlook.
The broader market was weak as well. News reports linked the slide in U.S. stocks to a selloff in artificial-intelligence shares after disappointing results from Amazon and Intel. In health care, the sector fund XLV moved the other way and rose 0.5%, meaning ResMed fell against its own sector.
ResMed’s Largest One-Day Fall In A Year
Before Friday, ResMed’s biggest one-day drops of the past year were 6.3% declines on May 29 and July 8, 2026. Over the past twelve months, the stock lost 8.4%, trailing an 11.3% gain for the S&P 500.
Over the year, the shares hit their high first, fell to a low, and then recovered part of the drop. The stock set a 52-week closing high of $275.96 on February 9, 2026, and dropped to its low of $182.82 on June 2. Friday’s close of $229.94 sits between the two. From May 1, the stock returned 12.8%, against 5.4% for the S&P 500. Shares still returned 4.0% from October 1 to October 30, compared with a 1.1% loss for the S&P 500.
ResMed is expected to report its fiscal second-quarter 2027 results in January 2027. Revenue growth from a year earlier is the figure to watch.
