Shares of Robinhood Markets (HOOD) dropped 7.2% on Friday, October 30, 2026, while the S&P 500 fell 1.8%. The company released no announcements, earnings reports or filings that day or the day before. A news report tied the fall to a slide in cryptocurrencies after Binance disclosed the largest crypto hack on record. That link is not obvious for a stock that sits in the financial sector. So where does crypto show up in Robinhood’s business?

Where Crypto Shows Up In Robinhood’s Business
Crypto shows up in the trading Robinhood offers and in a blockchain of its own. Customers trade crypto on Robinhood alongside stocks and options, and a Friday news report said crypto is a meaningful part of the company’s revenue. During its October 27 call for the third quarter, management said Robinhood’s market share grew by double digits from a year earlier in equities, options, crypto and margin.
The new blockchain is called Robinhood Chain. Management said that during the chain’s first quarter, it handled $100 billion in decentralized exchange trading and earned over $50 million in fees.
Did Robinhood Fall Alone On Friday?
No. Every company on Robinhood’s peer list closed lower: Charles Schwab, Interactive Brokers, Coinbase Global, SoFi Technologies and Morgan Stanley. Coinbase Global dropped 10.6%, a steeper fall than Robinhood’s, and Interactive Brokers lost 6.0%. The other three companies fell by less.
Financial stocks as a whole held up far better, with the SPDR fund for the financial sector (XLF) losing 0.8%. The wider market slid too. News reports said disappointing results from Amazon and Intel set off more selling of artificial-intelligence stocks. Robinhood’s drop sat much closer to those of Coinbase Global and Interactive Brokers than to the financial sector’s.
How Robinhood Stock Has Done Over Twelve Months
Falls this large are not rare for Robinhood. The stock dropped at least this much on 13 sessions in the prior 365 days. The latest was October 14, when it lost 8.5%.
The past year has been hard on holders. Robinhood stock lost 41.3% over the twelve months to October 30, while the S&P 500 returned 11.3%. Friday’s close of $84.99 sits far below the stock’s highest close of those twelve months, which was $147.08 on November 3, 2025. Its lowest close came on March 30, 2026, at $65.16. The shares are still up 15.4% since May 1, but they lost 23.5% from October 1 to October 30, against a 1.1% fall for the S&P 500.
The stock still trades at 15.0 times Robinhood’s sales of the past twelve months, against 3.2 times for the S&P 500. When Robinhood reports its fiscal Q4 2026 results, expected in February 2027, look at how fast revenue grew from a year earlier, after 11.8% in fiscal Q3 2026.
