Salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM) is one of the leading players in the cloud-based enterprise software space, which has become increasingly competitive in the last couple of months with biggies like Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL), SAP (NYSE:SAP) and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) trying to capture a large slice of the on-demand enterprise software market. Salesforce.com had acquired Radian6, a social media monitoring company earlier this year, for around $300 million. It has now unveiled the new Radian6 Social Marketing Cloud, which enables companies to monitor their social network presence and leverage social media to interact and engage with their customers.
We currently have a $121 Trefis price estimate for Salesforce.com, which stands slightly above its current market price. Cloud-based customer service and other cloud offerings by Salesforce.com account for almost 90% of its Trefis price estimate.
With the Radian6 Social Marketing Cloud, Salesforce.com Plans to Leverage the Rise of Social Networks
Many businesses now have a social presence on networks like Facebook and Twitter, where they interact with their users and customers, market their products and try to acquire new customers.
With the Radian6 Social Marketing Cloud, Salesforce.com is offering a lot of new social marketing and monitoring features, which allow businesses to engage with customers, and gain valuable insights about them. It enables companies to monitor social media conversations on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, LinkedIn and many other portals, and comes with analytics to create intelligent marketing campaigns. It will integrate with the Salesforce.com Sales and Service Cloud products.
Marcel LeBrun, SVP and GM for Salesforce Radian6, said:
Social media is the single biggest change in marketing in the last decade. Social enterprises recognize that social media provides real-time opportunities to delight customers and prospects. The Radian6 Social Marketing Cloud will enable every company to be at the forefront of this exciting industry shift.
Salesforce.com recently acquired Model Metrics, to focus on social and mobile products, and continues to roll out new cloud based products and services like Do.com, a social productivity app and Heroku Postgres, a cloud based database. It continues to show impressive revenue growth, but has been unable to control its operating expenses.Notes:
