What Drove Priceline’s Revenue And EBITDA Growth Over The Last Five Years?
Priceline’s biggest growth driver, so far, has been its accommodation platform, booking.com. Booking.com is the global market leader in the online accommodation booking sector. Booking.com boasts of 850,000 unique properties (34% growth over 2014) on its platform currently, spanning across 220 countries. Some of its competitive advantages are: offering the widest number of options to travelers, not charging a booking fee (most OTAs charge a 5% to 15% booking fee), and instantly confirming reservations as opposed to a 24 hour confirmation time taken by other websites. Booking.com is presently looking into even more aggressive penetration into the single-owner, single-room market.
