How Much Revenue Can Periscope Generate Over The Next 3 Years?
Twitter‘s (NYSE:TWTR) live broadcasting platform Periscope celebrated its first anniversary recently, a year in which it witnessed strong growth in activity. Over 200 million broadcasts were created on the platform in the past twelve months, 100 million of which were created in the last three months alone. Periscope attracted 10 million users in the first four months after its launch, and has since seen a significant increase in user engagement from 40 years’ worth of live video (21 million minutes) watched per day in August 2015 to 110 years’ worth of live video (58 million minutes) watched per day in March 2016.
While Twitter is struggling to grow its active user base, the initial success of Periscope indicates that live streaming could present a huge growth opportunity to the company. Below we look at Periscope’s revenue potential from in-video advertisements over the next few years.
