Oracle Takes Project Management Software To The Cloud With Skire Acquisition
Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) has entered into an agreement to acquire substantially all the assets of a Skire, a program management and facilities management software provider. Skire has applications both for the cloud and on-premise deployment. Skire provides a complete set of management and governance tools from planning to operations execution stage. This is mainly used by companies to manage their expansion and construction programs. Oracle will integrate Skire’s technologies with its range of Primavera products. This is the fourth acquisition by Oracle in the past few weeks. It acquired Vitrue, Collective Intellect and Involver recently, all in the social marketing space. [1]

Oracle intends to provide a comprehensive Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (EPPM) platform that covers the entire life-cycle of a capital project. The combined software offering can be used to manage projects with more predictability and financial control which will lead to improved efficiency and profitability.
The Skire Advantage
Primavera was acquired by Oracle in 2008 and is a leading project management provider for engineering, manufacturing and construction companies focused on the utilities space, aerospace, defense and oil gas sectors. Oracles offering is the leading on-premise management software provider but it lacks presence on the cloud which makes it hard for the company to provide services on-demand. This is where Skire comes into play and will fill the on-demand capacity gap of Primavera. [2]
We currently have a $39 Trefis price estimate for Oracle, which is ~30% above its current market price.
