Shares of Johnson Controls International (JCI) rose 5.7% on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, outpacing a 0.6% gain for the S&P 500. The stock climbed as the company reported its fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 results, delivering adjusted earnings per share and revenue that both came in above analysts’ estimates. How large was the beat, and what else did Johnson Controls report?

What Did Johnson Controls Report On October 27?
Adjusted earnings per share reached $1.66, coming in ahead of analysts’ $1.59 estimate. Revenue totaled $7.11 billion, beating the $7.04 billion projection.
Orders grew much faster than sales. Organic sales rose 12% from a year earlier, while orders increased 44%, driven by continued data center demand, management said on the October 27 call. Management also pointed to strong growth in other markets, including battery and semiconductor manufacturing. Backlog expanded 43% to $23 billion, a figure management called a record. Management expects 70% to 80% of that backlog to turn into revenue over the following 12 months. Management said demand is not the main limit: some customers face power and electrical infrastructure limits that affect when they take delivery.
For fiscal 2027, management expects organic revenue growth of 11% to 12%, a pace it said runs ahead of its long-term plan. It guided adjusted earnings per share to a range of $6.15 to $6.30 for the year, which management said is 21% growth from fiscal 2026 at the midpoint.
Did Similar Companies Rise As Much?
Most peers also traded higher, though by much smaller margins. Four of the five companies on the Trefis peer list for Johnson Controls gained during the session, led by a 2.8% advance for Emerson Electric. Honeywell International slipped. Tracking in line with the S&P 500, the SPDR fund for industrial stocks, XLI, gained 0.6%. Johnson Controls followed the broader direction of most of these companies, but its rise was about twice that of Emerson Electric.
How Johnson Controls Stock Stands After A Rare Rise
An advance of this size is rare for Johnson Controls. The stock had risen this much or more on two other days in the past year, most recently with a 6.0% gain on June 2, 2026.
Over the 12 months to October 27, the stock returned 39.7% including dividends, compared with 15.0% for the S&P 500. It closed the session at $155.88, finishing just below its highest close of the past year, which was $158.76 on October 6, 2026. Its lowest close in that time was $110.85 on January 9, 2026.
Johnson Controls is expected to report its fiscal first-quarter 2027 results in February 2027. Organic revenue growth, which management guided to 12% to 14% for that quarter, is the measure to watch.
