Can Intuitive Surgical Stock Hit $700?
For questions about this article or underlying research, email help@trefis.com.
Intuitive Surgical (ISRG) stock would have to rise another 49% from its November 5, 2026 close to reach $700. The maker of da Vinci systems would mainly need continued revenue growth to hit that mark, following a 20.5% increase over the twelve months to September 2026. After a 23.7% gain over the past three months, how much could three more years of owning the shares still make you?

What Three Years Of Owning Intuitive Could Make You
A Trefis scenario built on Intuitive’s own figures values the shares at about $835 three years from now, placing the stock above $700 and 78.2% above the November 5 close. The table below compares the company today against that three-year projection.
| Today | In three years (scenario) | |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $11.6 billion | $18.7 billion |
| Net margin | 25.5% | 26.1% |
| Earnings | $2.96 billion | $4.89 billion |
| P/E | 55.3 | 59.6 |
| Share price | $468.52 | $834.92 |
Higher revenue accounts for most of that gain, at 83.2%. The instruments and accessories surgeons use in each da Vinci procedure make up the largest part of the business, representing 59.8% of fiscal 2025 revenue.
The scenario also assumes a slightly higher P/E in year three. Because today’s multiple sits well below the stock’s 66.1 average at fiscal quarter-ends over the past three years, the model moves the P/E 40% of the way toward that mark.
Can Intuitive Keep Sales Growing Faster Than Procedures?
Sales outgrew procedures in the third quarter of 2026, when revenue rose 22% and total procedures grew 15%. Management said the difference reflects growth in system placements, alongside a richer product mix as da Vinci 5, its single-port SP system and Ion become a larger part of the business. The company placed 546 da Vinci systems in the quarter, up from 427 a year earlier.
Management is also cutting some instrument prices. The company expects pricing actions in high-volume benign procedures, such as hernia repair, alongside a price reduction in China that begins in November, to lower da Vinci instrument and accessory revenue per procedure by about 3% to 5% once fully in place. Management said the shift toward da Vinci 5 and SP is left out of that estimate and will add to revenue per procedure. Those price cuts work against sales outgrowing procedures, while the product shift works in favor of it. Management’s 2026 outlook holds no revenue forecast, but expects da Vinci procedure growth of 14% to 15% for a year with three quarters already reported.
How Would Intuitive’s Upside Change Under Other Assumptions?
The table below outlines the three-year upside with one assumption changed at a time.
| If instead | Upside |
|---|---|
| Nothing changes (the scenario) | 78.2% |
| Revenue growth of 15.4% a year instead of 17.4% | 69.2% |
| Net margin of 27.4% in year three instead of 26.1% | 87.2% |
| P/E of 55.3 in year three instead of 59.6 | 65.3% |
| 5 years at the same assumptions instead of 3 | 145.6% |
Each of those changes still leaves a gain. Intuitive also starts from a lower margin than usual. The company’s net margin over the latest twelve months sits below its 27.4% average at the 12 quarter-ends from September 2023 to June 2026, and management said third-quarter GAAP results reflect a $450 million litigation settlement.
Owning the stock for three years would return nothing if revenue shrank 3.2% a year, compared with 20.5% growth over the twelve months to September 2026. The investment would also return nothing at a net margin of 14.6% in year three, compared with 25.5% over the latest twelve months. The same holds at a P/E of 33.4 in year three, down from 55.3 today.
Instrument and accessory revenue per da Vinci procedure is the measure to watch when Intuitive reports its fourth quarter, expected in January 2027. The China price cut starts to affect that figure during the period.
A long horizon helps. Five years after days like November 5, the S&P 500 was higher 18 times out of 18.
