Applied Digital Builds And Leases Data Centers For AI

Applied Digital builds large data center campuses for AI computing, aiming to lease them for at least 15 years to large investment-grade cloud companies. On its October 7, 2026, call, management said the company had about $36 billion in contracted revenue across 5 campuses.

The HPC hosting business now brings in most of the company’s sales. That unit generated $262.6 million of the $341.9 million in revenue for fiscal Q1 2027, including $65.8 million of base rent and $183.5 million of tenant fit-out services. Two Bitcoin hosting sites and the company’s AI computing business, ChronoScale, accounted for the rest. With most of its revenue coming from data centers, Applied Digital fits into the group of stocks that a news report said seemed to rally on November 3.

Did Applied Digital Rise Alone Or With A Group?

Applied Digital rose alongside its peers. All five companies on the Trefis peer list for Applied Digital gained more than Applied Digital did, including Riot Platforms, which finished up 18.4%.

The stock’s GICS sub-industry, IT consulting and other services, went the other way with a median fall of 1.8%. Of the 12 other companies of $2 billion or more in that group, 9 fell. The technology sector fund XLK gained 1.3%. So Applied Digital moved with its Trefis peers rather than with its industry group.

Where Does Applied Digital Stock Stand Now?

A gain of this size is not rare for Applied Digital. The stock had 14 rises at least this big in the prior 365 days, and its last move this large was an 11.5% fall on October 16, 2026.

The gain came one session after the stock’s lowest close of the past year, $16.22 on November 2. Shares fell 9.0% that day, and a news report linked the decline to the chief executive’s comment that 800 megawatts still needed financing.

The stock’s highest close of the past year was $49.65 on May 28, 2026. Over the past 12 months, the stock has lost 48.6%, compared to an 11.9% gain for the S&P 500. In the past month alone it fell 27.9%, against a 2.6% fall for the S&P 500. Applied Digital trades at 6.1 times its sales over the past twelve months, compared with 3.2 times for the S&P 500.

Applied Digital is expected to report fiscal Q2 2027 results in January 2027, and revenue from its HPC hosting business is the measure to watch.
