Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) stock rose 11.0% on Friday, November 6, 2026, while the S&P 500 gained 0.3%. The company reported its third-quarter results on November 3 and filed nothing with the SEC on the day of the move or the day before. The advance came one session after a 17.3% fall, occurring on a day when beaten-down AI stocks, including Intel and Marvell, came back. That fall came as chip stocks sold off on worries about AI rules after Democrats won control of Congress in the midterm elections. Which other stocks rose on Friday, and what ties AMD so closely to them?

Buyers Returned To Beaten-Down AI Chip Stocks

Nvidia stock rose on dip-buying on Friday, recouping some of its losses, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.1% the same day.

AMD belongs to that group because most of its sales now come from its data center business, which sells EPYC processors and Instinct chips for AI work. On its November 3 call, management said data center revenue rose 97% from a year earlier to a record $8.5 billion in the third quarter of fiscal 2026. The data center business made up about 64% of total revenue in that quarter, and management expects it to be more than 80% of revenue in 2027.

AMD Gained More Than Other Chip Stocks

All five stocks on AMD’s Trefis peer list rose during the same session, ranging from a 0.7% gain for Broadcom to 7.7% for Intel. AMD posted a larger gain than any of those peers, finishing far above the 1.5% rise in XLK, the fund that tracks its sector.

AMD Stock Remains Far Below October’s Closing High

A rise like this is uncommon for AMD: four sessions in the prior 365 days saw a gain at least this large. The latest move of this size in either direction was the fall the session before.

Over the past twelve months, the stock returned 75.2%, against 9.8% for the S&P 500. Friday’s close of $449.04 still sits well below the 52-week closing high of $649.42 on October 6, 2026, while the 52-week closing low was $190.95 on March 3, 2026. The path down was quick: the stock lost 27.7% from October 8 to November 6, against a 4.9% fall for the S&P 500.

At Friday’s close, AMD traded at 16.2 times its sales over the past twelve months, against 3.1 times for the S&P 500. Total revenue is the measure to watch when AMD reports its fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, expected in February 2027. Management forecast about $17 billion, plus or minus 3%.
