SAP (NYSE:SAP) recently announced that it will be launching new mobile applications for human resource management departments, which will allow them to conduct general HR functions on the go. [1] SAP is one of the largest players in the enterprise software market, especially in the enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM) and business intelligence (BI) software segments. It recently announced a partnership with HP, which would allow it to offer its enterprise software as cloud based offerings using HP’s infrastructure.

SAP competes primarily with Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL), Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and IBM (NYSE:IBM) and Salesforce.com (NASDAQ:CRM) in the enterprise software market. We currently have a $62 Trefis price estimate for SAP, which stands around 20% above its current stock price. Human Capital Management software is covered under the ERP business, which accounts for around 37% of its total Trefis price estimate.

SAP Expands its Mobile Presence with New HR Apps

With these new mobile HR management apps by SAP, HR professionals can now perform a range of functions like interviewing job candidates, managing employee performance, entering and approving leave requests and accessing corporate key performance indicators on their mobile. Its mobile apps will be integrated with its Human Capital Management solution.

Some of the apps that SAP will be launching for HR professionals are SAP Manager Insight, SAP Interview Assistant, SAP Employee Lookup, SAP Leave Request, SAP Timesheet and SAP HR Approvals. SAP Manager Insight and Interview Assistant will be available on the Apple iPad while the other apps will be launched for the Apple iPhone and BlackBerry smartphones, the two most popular platforms in enterprises.

We expect SAP’s market share to decline to less than 25% by the end of the forecast period as the competition in the space increases. However, SAP could stand to gain market share if it continues to roll out new solutions like cloud based apps and mobile apps, like it has in the past week. Tweak this model to see how a change in SAP’s ERP marketshare could impact its stock price.
