SunPower Update: Delivers Panels to 3.8 MW Plant in France

SunPower (NASDAQ:SPWR) announced that it had delivered around 12,000 solar panels to French utilities player La Compagnie du Vent for a plant that would be completed in the summer of 2012. [1] The 3.8 MW plant will be largest built by La Compagnie du Vent to date and will generate approximately 6,270,000 Kilowatt hours (KWh) of electricity every year. SunPower manufactures some of the most efficient PV modules in the industry and build high performance cells that sell at  a premium. SunPower competes with low cost competitors such as First Solar (NASDAQ:FSLR).

SunPower quotes its client as mentioning that the key driver of their choice to buy SunPower panels was the high efficiency, which would deliver better results in space constrained areas. [1] The field is located in South Eastern France where solar irradiation received is considerably higher than in Northern territories. La Compagnie du Vent has around 280 MW of dc capacity in wind and solar PV power plants.
