Shares of Natera (NTRA) fell 8.5% on Monday, November 2, 2026, compared with a 0.5% slip for the S&P 500. The company issued no announcements, earnings reports, or regulatory filings around the move, yet all five companies on its peer list dropped during the same session. So what else was going on in the market that day?

A Soft Market Day For A Fast-Growing Company

The wider market had a soft day, while the Nasdaq Composite posted a steeper decline, falling 1.1% that session. News reports that morning said investors were bracing for a big week, with Apple’s results, the midterms, and Friday’s jobs data all still ahead.

Investors in Natera hold a fast-growing business that does not yet generate an operating profit. The company posted 37.8% revenue growth over the twelve months to June 30, 2026, yet it ran an operating loss of $290 million over the same twelve months. On its August 6 call, management raised its 2026 revenue range to $2.85 billion to $2.91 billion, following a quarter in which both its Signatera cancer test and its women’s health tests grew.

Did Natera Fall Alone?

Natera did not fall alone. Every company on Natera’s peer list fell on November 2, but none dropped as far as Natera did. Myriad Genetics dropped 7.9% and Guardant Health lost 4.5%, while Illumina, Labcorp, and Quest Diagnostics recorded smaller declines.

Health care as a whole barely moved. XLV, the SPDR fund for the sector, slipped 0.1%. Overall, Natera’s peer group fell further than health care stocks in general, and Natera fell the furthest of the group.

Where Does Natera Stock Stand Now?

Drops of this magnitude are rare for Natera. The stock recorded two declines at least this large in the 365 days before. Its most recent move at least this large in either direction was a 21.4% gain on August 7, 2026, and this latest drop immediately followed a 5.0% fall on October 30.

Those two sessions pulled the stock down from its 52-week closing high of $436.00, set on October 29, 2026. Over the past month, Natera shares have lost 7.7%, compared with a 2.3% loss for the S&P 500. A longer timeline presents a different picture: the stock returned 96.1% from its October 30, 2025 close to November 2, against 11.8% for the S&P 500. That climb ran into recent months as well, with a 37.7% return from August 4.

Investors pay a premium for that growth. Natera trades at 20.1 times its sales over the past twelve months, against 3.3 times for the S&P 500.

Natera is due to report its third-quarter 2026 results later in November 2026. Signatera test volumes are the measure to watch: management said on its August 6 call that it did not expect to set a new volume record in the third quarter.
