Cheniere Energy (LNG) stock rose 7.1% on Thursday, October 29, 2026, outpacing a 0.3% decline in the S&P 500. The advance came the same day the liquefied natural gas exporter reported third-quarter 2026 results and held its earnings call. How did the quarter compare with what analysts expected?

Cheniere Topped Revenue Forecasts And Raised Its 2026 Outlook
For the quarter, Cheniere’s reported earnings, which reflect net income of about $1.2 billion, came to $5.65 a share, above the $4.33 analysts had estimated. Zacks put quarterly earnings at $3.62 a share, missing its consensus of $4.20. Revenue also topped forecasts, reaching $6.17 billion against an expected $5.36 billion.
Management said the quarter reflected higher volumes of LNG delivered and higher marketing margins than a year earlier. Cheniere exported a record 188 cargoes in the quarter, about 17% more than a year before. Management credited the early start of the seventh and final production unit, or train, at its Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion, along with higher reliability rates than in the third quarter of 2025.
Volumes keep climbing only when a company keeps adding to what it can sell. Look at Tesla, which shelved its $25,000 car to lean on two aging models and saw deliveries fall two years in a row before a partial rebound this year. Read Trefis Big Story: How Tesla Blundered.
LNG management also raised its full-year 2026 guidance for the third consecutive quarter. The company lifted the range for adjusted EBITDA, its measure of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, by $850 million to between $8.75 billion and $9.25 billion. On the same day, Cheniere raised its quarterly dividend by more than 12%, to $0.625 a share.
Did Energy Stocks Rise As Much As Cheniere?
Energy stocks rose far less. The XLE energy sector fund gained 0.4% during the session, while the broader market slipped. The companies Trefis tracks as Cheniere’s peers all rose as well. Among them, Venture Global gained 2.9%, and Sempra advanced 1.4%.
Cheniere’s gain was more than twice Venture Global’s 2.9%, the largest of those peer moves. The stock moved largely on its own that day, rather than with its group.
Where Does Cheniere Stock Stand Now?
The gain marked Cheniere’s largest one-day move in a year, as no session over the prior 365 days produced a move this large in either direction. The rally also lifted the stock to $318.94, its highest close of the past year, compared with a low of $188.83 on December 15, 2025.
Over the twelve months to October 29, Cheniere returned 49.1%, outpacing the 13.3% return for the S&P 500. A large part of that performance came in October: the stock returned 18.6% from September 30, while the index returned about 1%.
Cheniere’s next report covers the fiscal fourth quarter of 2026. The measure to watch then is full-year adjusted EBITDA, whose guided midpoint management has raised by $2 billion since issuing its first 2026 guidance in February.
