TechnipFMC (FTI) stock fell 6.2% on Thursday, October 29, 2026, while the S&P 500 slipped 0.3%. The drop occurred on the same day the oil and gas equipment company reported third-quarter 2026 results that beat analysts’ estimates for both adjusted earnings per share and revenue. So what else did TechnipFMC tell investors that day?

TechnipFMC Beat Estimates And Raised Its 2026 Outlook

The company reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.05 for the quarter, beating the $0.88 estimate, while revenue of $2.90 billion topped the $2.79 billion analysts had expected.

Management also raised its full-year guidance. It lifted its forecast for Subsea revenue to a range of $9.6 billion to $9.8 billion, and increased its free cash flow projection to a range of $1.45 billion to $1.5 billion. For the fourth quarter, though, management expects Subsea revenue to fall by a mid to high single-digit percentage from the third quarter. It called that normal seasonality, noting lower activity in places like the North Sea and part of its vessel fleet going into maintenance.

New orders totaled $2.3 billion in the quarter, with $2.1 billion of that coming from the Subsea business. Total orders were down 12.4% from $2.65 billion a year earlier, and backlog slipped 4.4% to $16.1 billion. Management expects Subsea orders of at least $14.5 billion over the five quarters through the end of 2027, and said the new work it is adding has higher margins than its existing backlog.

Did TechnipFMC Fall With Other Energy Stocks?

The decline was isolated to TechnipFMC. The SPDR energy sector ETF, XLE, rose 0.4% during the same session. The companies Trefis tracks as TechnipFMC’s peers, SLB, Baker Hughes, Halliburton, NOV, and Oceaneering International, all moved less than 1% either way. Those moves ranged from a 0.3% drop for Baker Hughes to a 0.5% gain for NOV.

Where Does TechnipFMC Stock Stand Now?

The stock had not recorded a fall this large in any session over the prior 365 days. The last move of this size in either direction was a 6.5% gain on August 10, 2026.

The drop followed a strong year for the shares. TechnipFMC stock returned 63.3% over the 12 months to October 29, 2026, against 13.3% for the S&P 500. All of that net gain came before May, however. Since April 30, 2026, the stock has lost 11.3%, while the S&P 500 gained 7.7%. Thursday’s close was $66.95, placing the shares between a 52-week closing high of $80.08 set on September 3, 2026, and a low of $41.04 on October 29, 2025.

TechnipFMC’s next report covers the fourth quarter of 2026, and its Subsea orders will be the figure to watch in it.
