What Ties Lennar To The Other Homebuilders?

Lennar said a large share of its buyers qualify on payment rather than on price. To reach an affordable monthly payment for these customers, the company offers rate buydowns. During its September 17, 2026 earnings call, Lennar said the 30-year fixed mortgage rate had reached about 7%, up from 6.4% to 6.5% at its previous call. The company said that almost 50% of visitors in many of its markets could not immediately qualify for a mortgage.

Lennar also said resale homes have become a tougher competitor for its buyers, with listings particularly high in Texas and Florida, its two largest markets. Its revenue was $8.05 billion in fiscal Q3 2026, the quarter ended August 31, down 8.7% from a year earlier.

Did Lennar Fall With Other Homebuilders Or Alone?

Lennar declined alongside the broader homebuilding industry, and its drop was larger than most. The median homebuilder worth $2 billion or more fell 3.1%, and only one of the 12 others rose. Just one other company in that group fell 5% or more.

Lennar’s five Trefis peers all fell, including D.R. Horton, down 5.0%, and PulteGroup, down 3.4%. During the same session, the consumer discretionary sector fund, XLY, slipped 0.7%. Outside of the housing market, news reports said investors were watching U.S. midterm elections that could change control of Congress. The decline was shared across homebuilders, with Lennar recording one of the larger drops.

Where Lennar Stock Stands After The Fall

A decline of this magnitude is uncommon for Lennar, which recorded three such drops in the prior 365 days. Its most recent move of this size in either direction was an 8.7% gain on October 22, 2026.

The shares had been climbing before Tuesday. From October 5 to November 3, including Tuesday’s fall, the stock returned 16.4%, compared to a 2.6% loss for the S&P 500. The stock’s lowest close of the past year occurred during that stretch, hitting $73.53 on October 14, 2026, well below its high close of $133.13 on December 3, 2025.

Over the past year, the stock lost 28.9%, while the S&P 500 returned 11.9%. At Tuesday’s close, you pay 0.64 times Lennar’s sales for the stock, compared to 3.2 times for the S&P 500.

Lennar is expected to report its fiscal Q4 2026 results in December 2026. New orders are the measure to watch, with the company guiding to 19,500 to 20,500 homes for that quarter.
