eBay (EBAY) trades near $108 after a 22% return over the past year, against 18.5% for the S&P 500. The easy read is that the big gain is already in the price. But revenue grew 14.7% over the last twelve months, more than twice its three-year average. Management ties that growth to focused categories, preowned goods and newer lines such as eBay Live. A three-year scenario on eBay’s own numbers shows how much of it could still reach the stock.

Can eBay Keep Growing Revenue That Fast?

Revenue carries most of the upside. The scenario grows it 12.5% a year for three years, from $12.0 billion to $17.1 billion. That is below the trailing pace but well above the 6.7% a year eBay averaged over the last three years.

Focused categories such as collectibles, motors and fashion passed 40% of GMV for the first time in Q2 2026, with trading cards leading collectibles. eBay Live grew its GMV roughly 8x in the same quarter. And in late July eBay bought Depop, a consumer-to-consumer fashion marketplace with a young customer base.

The multiple works against the stock. eBay trades at 21.0x trailing earnings, well above its three-year average of 15.5x, and the scenario trims it to 17.9x. Earnings still rise about 50%, faster than revenue because the scenario lifts net margin from 18.5% to 19.5%, so on those assumptions the stock would be worth about $138 in three years, 27% above today.

Does eBay’s Own Outlook Back That Pace?

Roughly for 2026, but not for Q3 2026. On its August call, management guided full-year 2026 revenue to grow 11% to 12% on an FX-neutral basis, about 1 point of it from Depop, a little below the scenario’s 12.5% yearly pace. For Q3 2026 it guided revenue to grow 8% to 10% on an FX-neutral basis, well below that pace. It blamed the slowdown in GMV growth from Q2 mainly on lapping, including last year’s lift from its U.S. Klarna partnership.

Management expects Depop to add about 1.5 points to Q3 2026 revenue growth, and puts organic growth at about 7% to 9%. So for now the scenario asks more of eBay than its latest guidance shows.

What has to go right is focused categories and C2C selling holding up once those comparisons pass. Management calls most of its growth durable. The first test comes when eBay next reports its quarterly numbers.

What Happens To Your Gain If eBay’s Collectibles Growth Slows?

Slower growth is the main way the upside shrinks. Management expects Pokémon growth to slow in the second half of 2026 as eBay laps triple-digit growth, and from Q4 2026 it laps strong demand for gold and silver bullion. If revenue grew two points a year slower than the scenario, the upside would fall to about 21%.

Margin could work in your favor. Net margin of 18.5% over the last twelve months sits below its three-year average of 21.7%, and a full return to that average would lift the upside to about 42%. But management is spending on Depop, shipping and eBay Live.

If this changes Three-year upside
Nothing (the scenario) 27%
Revenue grows two points slower 21%
Net margin returns to its three-year average 42%
The P/E stays where it is 50%
Five years instead of three 61%

So Do You Hold eBay For The Next Three Years?

Over the past three years, eBay fell about 21% from peak to trough. Own it only if you could sit through a fall like that without selling. A ranking of stocks by forward valuation discount shows how that upside compares with other names.
