Cipher Digital (CIFR) shares rose 18.4% on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, outpacing a 0.4% gain for the S&P 500. The rally occurred the day after the company released its third-quarter 2026 results. Its peers advanced alongside Cipher, including Riot Platforms, which also climbed 18.4%. Cipher shares had dropped 5.9% on November 2, the day of the earnings release. So what did Cipher report?

What Cipher Reported On November 2

On the November 2 call, management reported third-quarter revenue of $27 million, an increase from $25 million in the second quarter. Analysts had expected $39.3 million. News reports tied the stock’s November 2 decline to that revenue shortfall.

Evaluating the quarter requires a look at Cipher’s ongoing business transition. The company is shifting away from bitcoin mining and toward building data centers that it leases to tenants. During the third quarter, Cipher generated its first lease revenue from high-performance computing, or HPC, at its Black Pearl campus.

Management also announced an expanded lease agreement. The company doubled the base lease term at its Barber Lake site from 10 to 20 years, increasing contracted revenue for that location to about $9.1 billion. Across all three of its contracted campuses, total contracted revenue now stands at about $16.6 billion.

Cipher posted net income of $32 million, recovering from a $268 million loss in the second quarter. Management said the swing came mainly from a $127 million noncash gain on its warrant liability. During the second quarter, that same warrant liability had produced a $151 million noncash loss. On November 3, the day the stock rose, news reports noted that analysts had trimmed their price targets following the earnings results but kept their bullish ratings.

Did Cipher Stock Rise On Its Own?

No. Cipher climbed alongside its Trefis peers rather than moving with its broader industry group. Core Scientific, another peer, gained 13.9%, while Applied Digital, Digital Realty Trust and Equinix rose by smaller amounts.

The company’s GICS sub-industry, IT consulting and other services, moved in the opposite direction. Among the 12 other companies in that category worth $2 billion or more, 9 fell, and their median declined 1.8%. The technology sector fund XLK gained 1.3%, leaving Cipher’s advance far larger than its sector’s.

Where Cipher Digital Stock Stands After The Rise

While a gain of this magnitude is uncommon for Cipher, it is not new. The stock recorded 3 sessions in the prior 365 days with a rise at least this big, with the latest arriving as a 28% jump on July 30, 2026.

Tuesday’s rally followed a prolonged slide. Cipher stock is down 56.5% over the past 12 months, underperforming an 11.9% gain for the S&P 500, and the shares lost 47.5% in the month to November 3. Its $8.12 close sat far below its highest close of the past year, which was $29.18 on June 18, 2026. Its lowest close of the past year, $6.86, occurred on November 2.

Management expects the Barber Lake data halls to come online from the fourth quarter of 2026 through the first quarter of 2027. When Cipher reports its fourth quarter of 2026, lease revenue from those data halls is the figure to watch.
