How Much Did Coeur Stock Rise After Earlier Drops?

The median gain a year after a drop was 7.0%. Counting this latest decline, Coeur stock has fallen this fast 21 times since 2010. Ten of the 19 drops with a full year behind them left the shares higher twelve months later. That median sits between very different years, with results ranging from a 62% loss to a 563% gain. The two most recent drops, in November 2025 and this October, are too recent to judge.

Coeur Mining’s Sales Have More Than Doubled

Coeur generated $3.17 billion in revenue over the four quarters to June 30, 2026, a 117.3% increase from a year earlier. Management said the record fiscal Q2 2026 results came in large part from the first full quarter of New Afton and Rainy River, two recently acquired operations.

This growth arrived with cash. Operations brought in $1.47 billion of cash over those four quarters. The company held $1.05 billion in cash and short-term investments at June 30, exceeding its $713 million of debt. At the October 23 close, the shares traded at 16.3 times Coeur’s earnings over the past four quarters, compared with 22.9 times for the S&P 500.

Coeur’s New Mines Are Ramping Up Later Than Planned

New Afton and Rainy River are progressing more slowly than scheduled. On the August 6 call, management said New Afton should reach its targeted mining rate early in the fourth quarter, roughly three months later than the plan it started the year with. Coeur lowered its 2026 gold production forecast in an August 5 release, dropping the projection by 7.7% from the forecast it gave in May.

Margins slipped as well. Coeur recorded a 20.0% operating margin in fiscal Q2 2026, down from 30.9% in the same quarter a year earlier. Management said acquisition accounting for Rainy River’s stockpile inventory took about $140 million out of that quarter’s earnings, without using any cash.

If you buy Coeur now, you are betting that its sales keep growing while New Afton and Rainy River catch up to plan. You also need to be ready to hold through lower prices first, as buyers after past drops usually had to. New Afton’s daily mining rate is the measure to watch when Coeur next reports its quarterly results.
