Can Corcept Therapeutics Stock Rally 40% After This Dip?

Shares of Corcept Therapeutics (CORT) fell 29.6% between October 5 and October 23, 2026, including a 20.1% drop in the final session alone. A 40% rally from the October 23 close of $85.86 would take the stock to about $120, a level still below its October 5 close of $122.03. Getting there means winning back a fall rather than setting a new high. A drop that steep tempts buyers. So how far have Corcept shares climbed after past falls this deep?

How Far Have Corcept Shares Climbed After Past Falls?
Shares usually climb more than 40% at some point within a year, though less by its end. On 15 occasions since 2010, Corcept stock lost more than 30% in 30 trading days. For the 14 falls with a full year behind them, the highest price over the following 12 months stood a median 48.3% above the price on the day of the fall. Nine of those falls left the shares higher a year later, and the median result was a gain of 18%. The fall of December 31, 2025, is too recent to judge.
That highest price arrived a median 284 days, or about nine months, after the fall. Along the way, the shares usually slid further at some point, touching a median low 14.8% below the price on the day of the fall.

Corcept Is Selling More But Keeping Less
Fiscal Q2 2026 revenue was $256 million, up 31.7% from a year earlier. The company’s new cancer medicine, Lifyorli, accounted for $47.6 million of that total in its first quarter on sale, alongside Korlym and its authorized generic. In July, management raised its 2026 revenue forecast to a midpoint of $1.15 billion, up from $1.0 billion in April.
Profit has moved the other way. Corcept’s operating margin over the twelve months to June 2026 was 0.8%, compared with 14.2% a year earlier and 22.5% over the twelve months to June 2024. The company posted an operating loss in fiscal Q1 2026 before returning to a 16.1% margin in fiscal Q2 2026. Cash is not the problem: Corcept held $308 million in cash and short-term investments at June 30, 2026, alongside almost no debt.
Even after the drop, the stock trades at 164 times its last twelve months of earnings, compared with 22.9 for the S&P 500. Buyers are paying for profit Corcept has yet to show again.
What Would Buying Corcept Now Ask You To Believe?
To buy Corcept now, you would need to believe rising sales will turn back into profit and be willing to sit through a possible deeper fall first. Not every past drop recovered. Corcept shares were 51% lower a year after the August 2012 fall. Following the May 2025 fall, the stock sank as far as 54.5% below the price on the day of the fall within the following year.
The FDA issued a complete response letter at the end of 2025, declining to approve Corcept’s application for relacorilant in Cushing’s syndrome. The company resubmitted the application on June 17, 2026, and the FDA’s decision is due in December 2026.
While historical data shows that similar drawdowns were followed by peak 12-month gains exceeding 40% in several instances, Corcept’s recent operating margins reflect a marked compression relative to 2024 levels. Corcept’s operating margin in its next quarterly report and the FDA’s decision on relacorilant in December 2026 are the results to watch.
