The investor day news was a day old when the analysts moved the stock, and what they were paying for was visibility.

SanDisk (SNDK) stock rose 7.4% on Friday. The company had laid out a long-term financial model at its investor day on Thursday, and the stock had already gained 13.7% that session. Friday belonged to the analysts, and what they re-rated was how much of the company’s output is already sold.

Thursday Brought The Model, Friday Brought The Ratings

The event was public before Friday opened. On Thursday, the company forecast revenue growth in the mid-to-high teens for fiscal years 2028 through 2030. Friday’s work was the sell-side’s. J.P. Morgan resumed coverage, Citi reiterated a bullish call, and the shares beat an S&P 500 that fell 0.2%. SanDisk did not move alone. Seagate (STX) rose 5.7% in the same session, Western Digital (WDC) rose 4.4%, and Micron (MU) rose 2.3%, so part of the day was a bid across storage. What separates SanDisk from that group is how much of its supply is already spoken for.

More Than Half Of Fiscal 2027 Is Already Committed

The change is in who buys the NAND and on what terms. A year ago, Datacenter was roughly 12% of SanDisk’s bits; exiting fiscal 2026, it was 38% of the portfolio, pulled by the high-capacity enterprise SSDs that AI inference workloads read from. By management’s own account, that business is no longer transacted a quarter at a time. The company has signed multi-year agreements with eight Datacenter and Edge customers covering more than 50% of fiscal 2027 bits and roughly two-thirds of fiscal 2028.

This is worth a minimum of $93.9 billion of revenue at floor pricing across the full multi-year term of the agreements, set against $20.25 billion of revenue for fiscal 2026 and a guide of $10.3 billion to $10.8 billion for fiscal Q1 2027 alone. Revenue committed that far ahead is the kind of durability the Trefis High Quality Portfolio favors in its holdings. A year ago, management described its visibility in this business as three months; it now has over four years of committed financials.

The Growth Forecast That Moved The Stock Covers Fiscal 2028 To 2030

Four years of committed pricing comes at a cost. The revenue growth rate Friday’s buyers paid for does not begin until fiscal 2028, and the variable pricing inside those agreements carries ceilings as well as floors. Management’s guidance puts fiscal Q1 2027 non-GAAP gross margin at 83% to 85%, a midpoint below the prior fiscal Q4 2026 print of 84.6%, even though the company also expects modest price increases. That print had beaten a guide of 79% to 81%, so the apparent sequential decline is a comparison of a forward guide against a trailing actual, not like-for-like.

Management says the agreements are not a drag on margin and that returns stay attractive even at floor pricing. Both can be true. Smoothing a cycle means giving up some of its peak, and the company traded some of that upside away on purpose. The stock is still nearly 30% below its 52-week high of $2,335, even after a rally of more than 60% off its recent low, so Friday extended a recovery it has not completed. What to watch is whether the raises keep coming.

Enjoy The Move, Then Check What It Did To Your Allocation

A move like this is even better to own than to watch, and it is also how one holding grows into an outsized share of a portfolio. A position that has grown large enough to matter is worth sizing deliberately rather than by accident.
