NASDAQ Sees Low Volumes For Equity Options In May
In May, NASDAQ saw a decline in its equity options volumes in both the U.S. and Europe. The decline in U.S. equity options was likely a result of lower industry-wide volumes. However, for the second quarter thus far, NASDAQ has managed to grow its U.S. equity options slightly.
In 2015, NASDAQ’s Nordic and Baltic exchanges were the main growth drivers for the company. However, in 2016, European equity options have failed to show growth, after starting the year on a high note. Going forward, we expect equity options to remain suppressed in the U.S. and Europe, as NASDAQ continues to battle intense competition.
