While Facebook has managed to contain the recent spate of cyber attacks, [1] the graphic content has surely made some users wary of using the site as freely as they did earlier. [2] Facebook reigns the social networking arena with competitors like Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) and MySpace.

Cyber Attack Risk Would Only Rise With Time

With around 800 million registered users and expanding, Facebook is increasingly pulling a lot of content from outside sources. This includes external links which can spread pretty quickly as they are shared amongst friends and groups on the site. This plethora of extraneous information makes the site much more prone to malware attacks like the recent one. This coordinated attack should be a warning bell for the company to tighten its security & privacy even further, or risk losing its otherwise loyal users.
