Baidu has announced a new partnership in the big data space, with Hong Kong-listed Chanjet. Chanjet provides enterprise software products and services for small businesses in China. Baidu will make its Big Data Engine available for Chanjet to develop and market Big Data applications. [1] Chanjet’s understanding of user needs and relevant product positioning is expected to benefit Baidu in popularizing its big data engine. [2]

Baidu Helping To Make Smart Shoes For Kids

Baidu has helped 361 Degrees International launch smart shoes for kids in China. The shoe is said to have several benefits over ordinary shoes. For example, Baidu’s location services can help find it ff misplaced by the child. Additionally, using Baidu’s location services, the parent can be alerted if the child leaves a designated area. It is also claimed that the shoe can monitor the child’s health and provide professional health advice and exercise suggestions. [3]

Baidu’s CarLife Platform Finds Takers

Baidu is also coming up with a car-based OS called CarLife. [4] [5] The system will host a range of Baidu’s web-based services and will be open to third party apps as well. The most important among the Baidu services on offer will most likely be Baidu Maps. It is expected to provide users with navigation and real time traffic alerts. It will also help discover points of interests such as stores and restaurants nearby. The system will facilitate hands free operation through voice commands. Several car manufacturers have announced plans to incorporate the system into their vehicles. [4]

We have a price estimate of $211 for Baidu, which is slightly lower than its market price.
