Vertiv’s Data Center Business And The Latest News
Vertiv sells power and thermal management equipment required by data centers, including liquid cooling systems. The Americas account for most of its sales, bringing in about $3 billion of the roughly $4.3 billion Vertiv sold in the third quarter of 2026. On November 4, the company announced a three-year agreement with Infineon to secure its supply of power semiconductors as it scales production.
On November 3, Election Day, Bernstein argued that political risk to U.S. data center construction was smaller than the market feared. Power and data center infrastructure stocks rallied that day, with Vertiv among them. Selling was broad on November 5, and the Nasdaq Composite fell 5.5%. A Motley Fool report the next morning said the Nasdaq closed in correction territory as post-midterm euphoria gave way to anxiety about AI spending.
Since 2002, 21 other days were this bad. A year later, the S&P 500 was up after 20 of them.
Management said on the October 28 call that data center demand was accelerating, even with obstacles such as power availability, permitting, and some negative sentiment toward data centers. Excluding acquisitions, third-quarter orders more than doubled from a year earlier, management added.

At the November 5 close, Vertiv traded at 5.2 times its sales over the last twelve months, against 3.2 times for the S&P 500. Management said on the October 28 call that Vertiv will no longer share its orders data. Management guided fourth-quarter sales to about $4.4 billion at the midpoint, and those sales are the measure to watch when Vertiv reports in February 2027.
