Vertiv (VRT) stock rose 5.2% on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, while the S&P 500 gained 0.4%. There was no announcement, earnings report or filing from the company. A news report linked a rally in power and data center equipment stocks on Election Day to a research call arguing that political risk to U.S. data center construction is smaller than the market fears. Why does that argument matter so much for Vertiv?

Vertiv Sells Power And Cooling Gear For Data Centers

Vertiv sells power and thermal management equipment for data centers, including liquid cooling and rack systems. During its October 28 call, management said data center demand is accelerating. That demand showed in the third quarter of 2026, when revenue was $4.31 billion, up 61.2% from a year earlier.

Most of those sales came from the Americas, where management said net sales were about $3 billion, up 75%. The research call was about data center construction in the U.S., which is part of that region. Management also named power availability, permitting and the supply of skilled construction labor as items pacing data center projects.

Did Other Electrical Equipment Stocks Rise Too?

They did, and Vertiv rose with them. Within the electrical components and equipment GICS sub-industry, 16 of the 17 other companies worth $2 billion or more rose, while one fell. Their median gain was 4.1%, a little less than Vertiv’s, and six of them rose 5% or more.

Among the companies Trefis tracks as its peers, Eaton rose 7.0% and nVent Electric gained 4.5%. The industrials sector fund XLI moved far less, gaining 0.9%.

Where Does Vertiv Stock Stand Now?

A gain this large is not rare for Vertiv. Over the previous 365 days, the stock had 21 sessions with a rise at least this big. Its most recent move of this size in either direction was a 5.5% fall on October 30.

Over the past year, Vertiv returned 22.5%, against 11.9% for the S&P 500. Its 52-week closing low was $149.83 on December 17, 2025, and its high was $376.23 on May 14, 2026. The shares now sit well below that high, having lost 30.8% over the past six months while the S&P 500 gained 4.8%. Vertiv trades at 6.9 times sales, against 3.2 times for the S&P 500.

Vertiv is expected to report its fourth-quarter 2026 results in February 2027. Net sales for that quarter are the figure to watch, against management’s guide of about $4.4 billion at the midpoint.
