Based on the evidence, Ralph Lauren (RL) stock is not expensive given the company’s growth rate. The shares trade at 23.1 times earnings, compared with 19.5 times for the median S&P 500 Consumer Discretionary company. At that price, investors get a business that grew its revenue 14.7% over the latest twelve months, about twice the sector median. So where is all that growth coming from?

Price and growth on the 2026-10-23 close and the latest reported quarters; S&P 500 medians on 2026-10-22. Outlook, key measures, and the business from Trefis research on the 2026-08-06 earnings call.

Most of Ralph Lauren’s growth is coming from charging more per item. Management said the quarter’s growth included both higher prices and more units, but average unit retail, the average price an item sells for, rose faster than comparable store sales. Based on our reading of the latest earnings call, comparable store sales rose 12% in constant currency during the June 2026 quarter, drawing contributions from both digital commerce and physical stores. Management said average unit retail rose 15% on fuller-price selling and less discounting. Regionally, Asia led the way with sales up 25%, while women’s apparel, outerwear and handbags grew faster than the company as a whole.

Management raised the company’s outlook after the quarter beat its internal plan. Ralph Lauren now expects fiscal 2027 revenue to grow 5% to 6% in constant currency, up from 4% to 5% before. While that marks an upward revision, it still points to slower growth than the company posted over the past twelve months.

Is Ralph Lauren’s Growth As Good As It Looks?

The growth holds up against the metrics a skeptic would check. One-off items are not flattering Ralph Lauren’s profit. Over the past twelve months, underlying income, which excludes unusual and one-time items, ran about 10% higher than reported net income. The company also avoided buying its growth. The diluted share count fell 1.9% over a year, while goodwill and intangibles, items that typically swell following an acquisition, rose only 2%.

Ralph Lauren is also maintaining its lead over the sector. A year earlier, its twelve-month revenue growth stood at 9.6%, compared with 4.1% for the sector median, meaning the performance gap has widened since. Our research found no short-seller reports, restatements, government probes or lawsuits. Put simply, the growth comes from the core business itself, not from deals or accounting maneuvers.

Has Ralph Lauren Stock Already Priced It In?

The market has noticed at least some of this performance. Investors paid 16.2 times trailing earnings on June 30, 2024, and 21.1 times on June 30, 2025, so the multiple has already risen to today’s 23.1 times.

The more recent rise looks different. Since the end of March 2026, Ralph Lauren’s market value has risen 9%, while the median S&P 500 Consumer Discretionary company lost 2.5% through October 22. The P/E multiple rose 4% over the same stretch, meaning higher earnings and a richer multiple each explain about half of that gain. Even now, Ralph Lauren is cheaper than about half the S&P 500 on earnings, while growing faster than about three quarters of it.

What Could Make Ralph Lauren Stock Go Down?

The case would weaken if Ralph Lauren missed its revenue forecast by a wide margin while the rise in average unit retail slowed to low single digits. Our research identifies weaker demand in Europe, where sales rose 5% in the June quarter, as the top risk. Management already expects only low to mid-single-digit growth in the region for fiscal 2027, citing elevated energy costs and disruption to Middle East partner sales and tourism.

Ralph Lauren next reports earnings in November 2026. Comparable store sales will be the figure to watch in that report.
