Palantir’s Growth Is Tied To Demand For AI

Palantir sells an AI platform to companies and governments, and management ties the company’s fastest growth to demand for AI. U.S. commercial revenue in the third quarter of 2026 grew 148% from a year earlier to $984 million. Management said demand for its Sovereign AI offering was speeding up that growth. At the same time, management said U.S. government revenue expanded on existing programs and new awards reflecting growing demand for the AI platform.

Palantir shares have recently traded alongside AI stocks. The stock had closed lower for seven straight sessions before November 5, joining a broader sell-off in stocks tied to AI capital spending. This streak included Palantir’s third-quarter earnings call on November 2.

Did Palantir Fall With Other Technology Stocks?

Yes, and by a slightly wider margin. The SPDR fund tracking the technology sector, XLK, dropped 8.0% in the same session, marking a much steeper decline than the S&P 500.

Every company on Palantir’s peer list also fell. Among them, Snowflake lost 7.2%, and Microsoft dropped 3.6%. Palantir moved in step with its broader sector and peers that day, but fell more than any of them.

AI stocks are swinging hard both ways. You can invest for a crash and a rally without picking a side.

Where Does Palantir Stock Stand After The Fall?

A daily drop of this size is rare for Palantir. Only one session in the prior 365 days produced a fall at least as large, an 11.6% drop on February 4, 2026. Its most recent earlier move that big, in either direction, was a 10.3% rise on August 7, 2026.

The stock lost 18.7% over the past year, while the S&P 500 gained 9.9%. Closing prices during that period ranged from $107.27 on June 25, 2026, to $209.05 on October 9, 2026. That high came less than a month ago. Over the month to November 5, Palantir lost 20.2%, against a 5.7% fall for the S&P 500.

At the November 5 close, Palantir traded at 51.2 times its sales over the past twelve months, against 3.2 times for the S&P 500.

Palantir is expected to report its fourth-quarter 2026 results in February 2027. U.S. commercial revenue, which management expects to exceed $3.559 billion for 2026, is the measure to watch.
