Robinhood Markets (HOOD) stock lost 10.3% on Thursday, November 5, 2026, dropping more than twice as much as the S&P 500’s 4.4% fall that session. The company issued no earnings report, filing or business announcement around the move. Bitcoin slid that day, and crypto-linked stocks like Robinhood fell alongside it. So what ties Robinhood’s business to the price of Bitcoin?

Crypto’s Slide Plus A Washington Shift Weighed On Robinhood

Crypto sits alongside equities, options and margin as one of the main assets on Robinhood. On its October 27 call, management said the company’s market share was up by double digits from a year earlier in each of them. Robinhood also runs its own blockchain, Robinhood Chain. The company launched that network on July 1, and management said the chain had handled over $100 billion in decentralized exchange trading by the time of the call.

Crypto was not the only pressure that Thursday. A political shift in Washington after the midterm elections weighed on retail-facing fintech stocks as a group. A 24/7 Wall St report that day tied those losses to a Democratic Congress. During the same session, the Nasdaq Composite fell 5.5%.

Did Every Peer Fall As Far As Robinhood?

No. Robinhood moved with its group: every company on its Trefis peer list fell that session, though none as far. The falls ran from 0.8% for Charles Schwab to 9.7% for Coinbase Global, with Interactive Brokers, SoFi Technologies and Morgan Stanley in between. The financial sector fund XLF lost 2.9%, registering a smaller fall than the S&P 500’s.

Robinhood Stock’s Rare Fall In A Losing Year

A fall this large is rare for Robinhood. The stock fell at least this much on two other sessions in the prior 365 days. Counting rises as well, it moved this much on 10 sessions. The latest of those moves was a 16.6% gain on September 3, 2026.

The fall came in a hard year for holders. Robinhood stock lost 42.7% from its November 4, 2025 close to November 5, 2026, while the S&P 500 returned 9.9%. In that time, its highest close was $142.48 on November 5, 2025, and its lowest was $65.16 on March 30, 2026. Thursday’s close of $78.39 sits nearer the low than the high. Much of the year’s loss is recent. From October 7 to November 5, the stock lost 28.4%, against a 5.7% fall for the S&P 500.

Five years after the last market days like November 5, the S&P 500 was higher 18 times out of 18.

At that close, you pay 13.9 times Robinhood’s sales of the past twelve months, against 3.2 times for the S&P 500. Robinhood is expected to report its fiscal Q4 2026 results in February 2027, and its average daily trading volume in crypto for that quarter is the number to watch.
