Fiserv (FISV) stock advanced 12.5% on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, while the S&P 500 gained 0.4%. The move came the same day Fiserv reported third-quarter results that edged past estimates on adjusted earnings per share and matched them on revenue. Sales still slipped from a year earlier, so what else did Fiserv tell investors on November 3?

Fiserv Doubled A Cost-Savings Target And Plans To Resume Buybacks

Fiserv doubled the savings it expects from its Project Elevate program to $1 billion. It also plans to resume share buybacks, setting aside $0.5 billion for the fourth quarter. Management said it expects both the Merchant business and the company as a whole to return to growth in that quarter, and kept its full-year forecast for adjusted earnings per share at $7.20 to $7.40.

The quarter itself was mixed. Adjusted revenue came in line with analyst expectations, though it fell 1% from a year earlier. Organic revenue was flat, a figure that leaves out the sold student loan servicing and managed ATM businesses. Adjusted earnings per share of $1.75 edged past the $1.72 analysts expected, but remained below the $2.04 reported a year earlier.

On a reported basis, Fiserv lost $11.17 a share after a noncash goodwill charge of $12.04 a share, which management tied to the sustained decline in its share price.

Did Fiserv Rise With Other Payment Stocks?

No. Fiserv rose while most of its industry group fell. Twelve of the 16 other large companies in transaction and payment processing services declined, posting a median fall of 1.1%. The XLF fund that tracks financial stocks lost 0.6%.

That same split appeared in the Trefis peer list, where four of Fiserv’s five peers fell, including Fidelity National Information Services and Global Payments.

Where Does Fiserv Stock Stand Now?

Fiserv did not record a single-session rise this large at any point in the prior 365 days.

The stock hit its 52-week closing low of $44.36 on October 2. From October 5 to November 3, it returned 26.6% while the S&P 500 lost 2.6%. Over the past 12 months, though, Fiserv stock is still down 12.4%, against an 11.9% return for the S&P 500. The shares ended November 3 about 16% below the 52-week closing high of $69.85 they set on January 9, 2026.

Fiserv is expected to report its fourth-quarter results in February 2027. Merchant revenue growth is the number to watch in that report. Management guided to growth of 6% to 8% for the quarter, compared with a 3% fall in Merchant adjusted revenue during the third quarter.
