Eaton (ETN) stock rose 7.0% on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, while the S&P 500 gained 0.4%. The gain occurred on the same day the power management company reported third-quarter adjusted earnings per share and revenue that beat analysts’ estimates. Most other stocks in its industry with a market value of $2 billion or more also rose that day. So what exactly did Eaton report for its third quarter, and what did management raise?

What Did Eaton Report For Its Third Quarter?
Eaton earned an adjusted $3.68 a share in the third quarter of 2026, compared with the $3.54 analysts expected. Revenue reached a record $8.9 billion, coming in above the $8.53 billion estimate. Sales grew 28% from a year earlier. Acquisitions accounted for part of that growth, while organic growth for the quarter was 19%.
Strong demand across Eaton’s electrical businesses and data center markets helped organic growth speed up. Sales to data centers rose 54% in its Electrical Americas business. The order backlog also continued to grow. Management said the total electrical backlog reached a record of more than $20 billion, up 46% from last year.
Management also raised its guidance for 2026 for the third time. It now expects organic growth of 13% to 15%, up from a range of 11% to 13%. It raised its adjusted earnings per share guide to $13.70 to $13.80. Management said the raise added $0.25 to the midpoint. At the midpoint, that would be 14% above 2025. Looking further out, management said none of its end markets are expected to decline in 2027.
Did Other Electrical Equipment Stocks Rise On November 3?
Yes, nearly all of them. Among the 17 other companies in Eaton’s sub-industry, electrical components and equipment, with a market value of $2 billion or more, 16 rose that day. Their median gain was 4.1%. The wider Industrials sector, tracked by the XLI fund, gained 0.9%.
Eaton outperformed its five Trefis peers, which comprise a separate list. Four of the peers rose, while Cummins was flat. Hubbell gained the most among the group at 3.6%. So Eaton rose alongside its industry, climbing by more than both the industry median and each of its peers.
Where Eaton Stock Stands After Its Rise
A gain of this size is rare for Eaton. The stock recorded one rise at least this large in the prior 365 days. Its latest move of this magnitude in either direction was a 7.6% fall on September 14, 2026.
The gain still leaves Eaton behind the market over the year. The stock returned 3.8% over the 12 months to November 3, compared with 11.9% for the S&P 500. It closed about 15% below its highest close of the past year of $459.96 on August 12, 2026. Over the last three months the stock lost 12.2%, while the S&P 500 lost 1.7%. Its lowest close of the past year was $315.82 on December 17, 2025.
Eaton is expected to report its fourth-quarter results in February 2027. Organic growth, one of the figures management raised for the full year, is the measure to watch.
