CrowdStrike (CRWD) stock rose 8.2% on Friday, October 23, 2026, while the S&P 500 fell 0.5%. The company did not report earnings around the move, but other cybersecurity stocks climbed during the same session, including a 7.2% gain for Palo Alto Networks. So what lifted CrowdStrike and its peers on a day the market fell?

What Lifted CrowdStrike And Other Cybersecurity Stocks?
A news report on October 23 said cybersecurity stocks rose after Evercore ISI’s quarterly survey of channel partners found a strengthening budget outlook across the sector. The report named CrowdStrike, Okta and Palo Alto Networks among the climbing stocks.
That same day, CrowdStrike’s chief executive said in a television interview that he expects a lot of breaches in the coming months from PHP vulnerabilities. A news report the following day described the flaws as residing in software that powers most of the internet, and said the stock market immediately rewarded that forecast.
Both developments bear on corporate security spending, the market CrowdStrike serves through its Falcon platform. That business has expanded rapidly, with CrowdStrike’s revenue rising 25.8% from a year earlier in the quarter ended July 31, 2026.
Did CrowdStrike Move With Its Peers?
Yes. Palo Alto Networks, Okta, Fortinet, Qualys and Microsoft, the companies on CrowdStrike’s Trefis peer list, all rose during that session. Okta gained 5.8%, while Fortinet and Qualys each rose 4.1%.
Technology as a whole moved far less. The SPDR technology sector fund, XLK, gained 0.5%, and the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.2%. U.S. stocks fell as oil prices climbed to their highest level in five months, according to news reports that day. CrowdStrike moved alongside its security peers, finishing well ahead of both the technology sector and the wider market.
CrowdStrike Stock Has Made Moves Like This Before
A jump this large is not rare for CrowdStrike. The stock posted a gain at least this big four times in the prior 365 days, most recently advancing 13.9% on September 14, 2026.
The past year has been strong. CrowdStrike stock returned 106.0% over the twelve months to October 23, against 15.1% for the S&P 500. The shares climbed from a low close of $87.56 on February 24, 2026, to a high close of $278.86 on October 6, and Friday’s close sits a little below that high.
The shares are priced well above the market. Investors pay 48.7 times CrowdStrike’s sales over the past twelve months, against 3.2 times for the S&P 500.
CrowdStrike is expected to report its fiscal Q3 2027 results in December 2026. Revenue growth in that quarter is the number to watch.
