Shares of Accenture (ACN) advanced 74.6% in the three months to October 21, 2026, compared with 5.0% for the S&P 500. Whether the stock can climb much further depends on whether demand for its AI work keeps building. Even now, its three-year high close of $378.59 in February 2025 is 57.6% above today’s price. A 30% jump would not be unusual for this stock: in 7 of the last 10 calendar years, it rose 30% or more within the year. The recent run arrived alongside results that beat the company’s own forecast. Was that AI demand visible before July 2026?

Accenture Talked Up Its AI Work Ten Months Earlier

It was, and management said so plainly. During the fiscal Q4 2025 call on September 25, 2025, management said generative AI revenue at Accenture tripled in fiscal 2025 compared with fiscal 2024. It added that the year closed with over $80 billion in bookings, topping the $69.7 billion of revenue Accenture reported for fiscal 2025, so clients were signing more new work than the company billed that year.

The filed quarters kept growing after that call. In the quarter ended February 2026, reported revenue in U.S. dollars rose 8.3% from a year earlier. Revenue then increased 5.6% in the quarter ended May 2026. During May 2026, Accenture Federal Services also announced a partnership with OpenAI to help U.S. federal agencies adopt AI.

Yet the shares fell 50.3% between January 22 and July 23, 2026. The signs were real, but they read as steady growth rather than a coming surge.

Accenture’s October Results Beat Its Own Forecast

Revenue for fiscal Q4 2026 reached $18.7 billion. That result came in 7% higher in local currency and above the top of management’s guided range. Accenture reported those figures on October 1, 2026, and the shares rose 15.8% that day. This marked the largest one-day gain of the three months. Accenture was not alone in its advance. Cognizant Technology Solutions rose 62.7% over the same three months, against 22.6% for IBM.

The results also put figures on the AI work management described a year earlier. Bookings with the company’s eight emerging AI and data partners more than tripled in fiscal 2026. Work with its top 10 partners made up more than 60% of revenue and grew 6% in fiscal 2026, expanding faster than Accenture as a whole.

Is Accenture’s Demand Still Building?

Accenture is still signing more new work than it bills. New bookings rose 4% from a year earlier to $22.2 billion in fiscal Q4 2026, representing 1.2 times the quarter’s revenue.

Management’s forecast is more cautious. The company guided for fiscal 2027 revenue growth of 3% to 6% in local currency, against 5% in fiscal 2026. It expects acquisitions to add 2% to 2.5% of that growth.

Accenture is expected to report its fiscal Q1 2027 results in December 2026. New bookings against the same quarter a year earlier are the figure to watch.
