Accenture (ACN) stock returned 77.4% over the three months to October 22, 2026, against 3.7% for the S&P 500. Such a run leaves shareholders with more to lose, and one remark from the October 1 earnings call merits their attention: management discussed what Accenture can charge its clients. So what did management say about prices, and how much of Accenture’s revenue is at stake?

Accenture Saw Lower Pricing In Many Areas

Management said on the October 1 call that Accenture saw lower pricing in many areas of its business in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, which ended August 31. Pricing was overall stable for the full year, and management described the market as highly competitive. So the shift is a recent, one-quarter development rather than a yearlong trend.

Management also discussed AI on the call. Accenture is delivering more AI efficiencies to clients, management said, and has more than made up for that with new kinds of work and broader scope.

Hiring patterns reflect the same shift. Revenue per person rose in fiscal 2026, and management expects to hire at a lower rate in fiscal 2027, in part due to AI. That outlines the threat in plain terms: if AI lets Accenture do the same work with fewer people, clients may expect to pay less for it, and so far management has found new work to fill the gap.

How Much Of Accenture’s Revenue Is Exposed?

Management did not say how much revenue saw lower pricing. The pressure applies to a business with $74.2 billion in revenue over the twelve months ended August 31, 2026, up 6.5% in U.S. dollars from a year earlier. Consulting revenues were $36.9 billion in fiscal 2026, up 3% in local currency, the slower of the two halves of that revenue. Managed services revenues, derived from running applications, infrastructure and operations for clients, were $37.3 billion, up 6% in local currency.

The company’s outlook leaves room for a weaker year. Management expects fiscal 2027 revenue to grow 3% to 6% in local currency, against 5% in fiscal 2026, and expects acquisitions to add 2% to 2.5% of that. The bottom of the range allows for deterioration, management said.

The share price leaves less room than it did in the summer. On June 30, 2026, the stock traded at 9.8 times earnings, its lowest multiple at any of the 40 quarter ends since fiscal 2017. It now trades at 18.6 times earnings, against 23.0 for the S&P 500, and its latest close was 7.7% below its highest close of the past year. The current price appears to assume that lower pricing stays contained.

How Worried Should Accenture Holders Be?

The risk is real but, so far, slow. Pricing was stable for the year as a whole and fell in only its last quarter, and management says new work has more than covered the AI savings it passes on to clients.

Accenture stock has also fallen further than the S&P 500 during some past market shocks. In the 2022 inflation shock it fell 38%, against 24% for the S&P 500, and in the 2025 tariff shock it fell 28%, against 19%.

For the risk to be worth taking, new work would need to keep making up for lower prices, as management says it did in fiscal 2026. Accenture’s consulting revenue growth in local currency is the number to watch when the company reports its first quarter of fiscal 2027, expected in December 2026.

Does This Mean You Should Act On ACN?

Our purpose is to inform you with unique data so you make the right investment decisions. That said, betting on a single stock is always risky, no matter which direction you choose.

There is a smarter approach. Since its inception, the Trefis High Quality (HQ) Portfolio has returned 105%, beating the benchmark that combines the three major indices – the S&P 500, S&P Mid-cap, and Russell 2000. And it did so without taking the concentrated risk that comes with do-it-yourself stock picking. If that is how you want to invest, the HQ Portfolio is the place to start.
