Did Salesforce Telegraph Its Own Massive Rally?
Salesforce (CRM) stock has run hard since June 15, 2026, and the easy explanation is the August 26, 2026 earnings call plus Claudeforce, a product built jointly with Anthropic and announced minutes before that call. That explanation arrives late. Management had outlined the turnaround metrics and projected timeline well in advance of the market repricing.

What Was Salesforce Saying Before The Run?
Go back to December 3, 2025. That day, the company disclosed that growth in net new Annual Contract Value (ACV)—defined as new bookings less attrition—outpaced overall ACV growth for the first time since fiscal 2022. Management noted that organic revenue re-acceleration historically follows this crossover. On the same call it committed to re-accelerating revenue in twelve to eighteen months. By February 25, 2026 the half was named: organic revenue re-acceleration in the second half of fiscal 2027.
Why Was Salesforce Buying Its Own Shares?
The second sign was where the cash went. On that February 25, 2026 call the company raised its repurchase authorization to $50 billion, calling its own share price dislocated and the buyback the most prudent investment available to it. It then commenced its largest ever accelerated share repurchase, $25 billion. On the May 27, 2026 call it said that program, with the ongoing buyback, had cut first-quarter diluted share count 10% year over year. The balance sheet was being put behind the forecast. The run did not begin until June 15, 2026, with the stock at $164.55.
What Landed On The August Call?
Then the checkpoint, on August 26, 2026. Current remaining performance obligation grew 14% in constant currency, a point ahead of the company’s own guide, against approximately 13% in constant currency on the May 27, 2026 call. Management calls it a leading indicator. Net new ACV growth was the strongest in four years, and attrition was near its lowest level ever. Management also answered the predicted end of software, saying none of those predictions had come true for Salesforce. The joint product announced that day was not a surprise either. In May, management had already said that Anthropic’s own Sales Cloud usage had exploded fivefold on the back of Headless 360, launched that April, which made all of Salesforce reachable by outside software.
Could You Have Acted On Salesforce’s Own Guidance?
The indicators were present, but guidance carries execution risk. The re-acceleration management promised is for the second half of fiscal 2027, and it has not been reported yet. What the market repriced by September 15, 2026 was confidence in that commitment, not the commitment being met. Over the run since June 15, 2026 the stock returned +55.4%, while the S&P 500 returned +0.7%, Microsoft (MSFT) returned +24.6%, Oracle (ORCL) returned -26.9% and Adobe (ADBE) returned +24.9%. So software did not move as a block, and Salesforce more than doubled the best of these peers. Timing stayed the hard part. Ten days before the run began, on June 5, 2026, implied volatility sat in the 85th percentile of its trailing one-year range, which signaled a large move in either direction, not which one. The repeatable habit is to watch companies whose own outlook is climbing while the price still lags.
Catching The Surge Matters Less Than Keeping It
Catching a move early is a real edge; keeping the gains it produces takes a different discipline. Concentration tends to arrive by accident rather than by decision.
