XRP is currently trading in the $1.40 to $1.45 range, marking a substantial recovery since dropping below $1.00 to hit an interim low near $0.98 in early August. After rallying to an interim high near $1.70 on major exchanges like Binance and Coinbase, the asset entered a consolidation phase.

But what’s next? To see if this rally can make a real push toward $2.00, we need to weigh the broader macro setup, institutional money flows, token supply, and technical resistance.

What drove the recovery from sub-$1 levels?

First, let’s look at what’s driving the current rally. It’s a combination of macro liquidity shifts and institutional inflows that catalyzed the rebound. When the US Treasury expanded long-end bond buybacks, the 10-year Treasury yield retreated from multi-year highs, according to market data from Bloomberg and the Federal Reserve. This softened the US Dollar Index and brought risk appetite back to digital assets.

At the same time, US spot XRP ETFs logged multi-week inflow streaks, scooping up over $100 million from liquid exchange supply, based on tracking data from Farside Investors. As this spot buying pushed XRP through key moving averages, it set off a short squeeze in the derivatives market, accelerating the run toward $1.70 before profit-taking cooled things down.

What is powering the bull case from here?

Institutional infrastructure and shifting regulatory winds make up the core thesis here. Consistent demand for US spot ETFs acts like a vacuum, steadily soaking up liquid token supply from the open market.

On top of that, benchmark integration like the FTSE XRP Index is paving the way for Wall Street to build new products and slide XRP into traditional portfolios. Looking at the network itself, Ripple’s dollar-pegged stablecoin (RLUSD) just crossed $2 billion in circulation, based on on-chain data tracked by DefiLlama, giving a real boost to on-chain utility.

Finally, traders are positioning ahead of the curve in Washington. Early moves around the US Senate’s upcoming CLARITY Act are helping to shake off lingering regulatory fears.

Where could this rally run into trouble?

Two major hurdles stand out: heavy overhead resistance on the charts and fresh token supply hitting the market.

Looking at TradingView technical charts, sellers are already waiting between $1.55 and $1.70, followed by a thick wall of supply between $1.80 and $2.00. Punching through those levels will take genuine spot buying rather than a quick pop from leveraged futures traders.

When bond yields spike, or liquidity tightens, the fallout hits speculative assets first. We have seen a similar dynamic play out across growth tech, as detailed in our analysis on Why Is IonQ Stock Sinking?, where shifting market risk appetite quickly exposed overextended momentum

At the same time, Ripple’s regular monthly escrow unlocks, tracked on the XRP Ledger, keep adding new tokens into circulation, which means spot ETF demand has to stay strong just to soak up that extra float.

On the downside, bulls need to protect key support between $1.30 and $1.35  (aligned with the 50-week moving average on TradingView) to keep this rally intact. A daily close below $1.30 would break the current structure, opening the door for a deeper slide toward $1.08 to $1.12.

So, can XRP actually hit $2.00 in the near term?

It is certainly on the table, but it is far from a sure thing. To break through the stubborn $1.80 to $2.00 zone, XRP needs two things: ETF inflows that easily outpace monthly escrow unlocks, and long-term bond yields that stay in check.

For anyone looking for a clean trigger, a high-volume break above $1.55 paired with steady derivatives funding rates would be the green light that buyers are back in control. Without that spot volume pushing prices higher, expect XRP to chop around between $1.30 and $1.60 until the market picks a clear direction.

How should investors position around high-beta digital assets?

Spotting a breakout in high-beta assets like XRP is one skill; navigating the sharp drawdowns that often follow is another. Whether evaluating crypto tokens or high-beta growth stocks—a challenge we broke down in: Is RKLB Stock A Buy Or A High-Beta Trap?—long-term performance depends on what sits alongside the position.
