NASDAQ‘s (NASDAQ:NDAQ) equity options trading volumes saw significant improvement in March, with around 136 million contracts traded in the U.S. market, in comparison to the previous month’s 120 million shares. The volumes grew at over 70% year-on-year over the past few months. This is primarily due to the massive gain in market share to over 42% from to the acquisition of ISE in the middle of 2016. Moreover, we believe the strengthening of the U.S. dollar and other macro factors contributed to increased volatility in the market, and consequently drove trading volumes.

The company generates around 18% of its revenues from this segment. With over 70% growth in the quarterly volumes, we believe the negative impact of 20% decline in cash equity volumes will be largely offset.
