How Has E-Trade’s Revenue & EBITDA Changed In The Last Five Years?
E-Trade’s revenue declined by 31% over the last five years, mainly due to the low interest rate environment and losses on loans and securities. However, the 41% decline in its operating expenses outpaced the decline in revenue, owing to a significant decline in provisions for loan losses. The fall in loss provisions was a result of the brokerage’s efforts to cut down the leverage it had built on its balance sheet during the crisis. Consequently, the company’s EBITDA increased 33% during the period despite the fall in revenues.
