DuPont’s Third Quarter Came In Ahead Of Estimates

DuPont reported third-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $2.09, against an analyst estimate of $1.87. Net sales reached $1.9 billion, against an estimate of $1.84 billion. Those sales grew 4% from a year earlier, even with a 1% hit from currency.

Management also raised its full-year 2026 outlook. The company now expects adjusted earnings per share of $7.50 at the midpoint, up $0.25 from prior guidance, alongside sales of about $7.19 billion at the top end of its earlier range.

Management said the company’s total order book was up double digits from a year earlier. Aerospace sales are growing in the double-digit range, and more large home builders are switching to DuPont’s Tyvek house wrap. Management built one delay into the new outlook. The company has orders in hand for large water projects in the Middle East, but management now assumes those will be pushed into 2027 because of continued disruptions there.

Did Other Industrial Conglomerates Rise With DuPont?

Mostly, they did not. Of the five other industrial conglomerates worth $2 billion or more, four fell and one rose, with none gaining 5% or more. Their median change was a fall of 1.3%, while the broader industrials sector fund, XLI, gained 0.9%.

DuPont’s own Trefis peer list is a second group of five, and it mostly moved the same way. Four of those five peers fell, including Dow by 1.1%, though Celanese was the exception, rising 5.0%. DuPont secured its own gain on a day when most of the companies around it fell.

Where Does DuPont Stock Stand Now?

A gain this large is rare for DuPont. Over the prior 365 days, the stock recorded one other session with a rise at least this big: an 8.8% gain on November 4, 2025.

Over the past year, DuPont stock returned 59.4%, against 11.9% for the S&P 500. Shares closed at $153.46, just below the highest close of the past year, which was $154.59 on February 11, 2026. In the past month alone, DuPont returned 17.4% while the S&P 500 lost 2.6%.

DuPont is expected to report its fourth-quarter results in February 2027, and organic sales growth is the measure to watch against management’s guide of about 8%.
