Shares of CoreWeave (CRWV) fell 15.5% on October 14, 2026, during a session where the S&P 500 lost 1.1%. The drop came as yields on CoreWeave’s unsecured bonds rose toward 15%. A venture capitalist had drawn attention to them on X late on Tuesday, October 13. Reports tied the stock decline to concern about the company’s debt burden. Investors have reason to share that worry if borrowing at the company has outrun its business. So how big has CoreWeave’s debt become next to what it sells?

How Large Has CoreWeave’s Debt Become?

CoreWeave owed $51.6 billion at the end of June 2026. The company recorded sales of $7.59 billion over the previous twelve months. That puts its debt at about 6.8 times a year’s sales. This debt level equals about 134% of CoreWeave’s market value at the October 14 close, against 20.2% for the S&P 500 as a whole.

A year earlier, CoreWeave owed $14.6 billion. Debt has more than tripled while sales rose 115.3% over the year to June 2026. On these figures, the company’s borrowing has outrun its business.

CoreWeave Still Spends More Cash Than It Brings In

CoreWeave brings in more cash than it did previously, but not enough to cover what it spends. The company’s cash from operations rose to $6.91 billion in the twelve months to June 2026, climbing from $638 million a year earlier. Yet free cash flow, the cash left after spending on the business, fell further below zero. The metric hit a negative $13.66 billion, against a negative $7.94 billion a year before.

CoreWeave’s operating margin also fell, moving from a profit of 6.3% of sales a year earlier to a loss of 3.0% over the twelve months to June 2026. The business has not yet grown into its costs.

What Stayed The Same At CoreWeave?

Sales kept growing at the same fast pace through the latest reported quarter. The company released its second-quarter results on August 11, 2026, well before the recent stock fall. Revenue rose 112.5% from a year earlier in that quarter (April to June). That followed growth of 111.6% in the first quarter. In a memo to staff reported by Reuters on October 14, the chief executive pointed to a strong backlog.

Free cash flow and revenue growth are the numbers to watch in CoreWeave’s next report, expected on or around November 11, 2026. Free cash flow will show whether the cash gap is closing. Revenue growth will show whether sales still grow at the same pace.
