Can Corcept Stock Rally 40% After This Dip?

Shares of Corcept Therapeutics (CORT) have fallen 29.6% since their October 5 high. A drop of that speed tempts buyers. To mount a 40% rally, the stock would need to trace the recovery pattern of most previous declines, while the company’s Cushing’s syndrome business and its cancer drug Lifyorli must continue to grow. Following earlier declines of this depth, the stock reached a median peak of 48.3% above its dip-day price within a year. So how often did a fall like this one pay off for Corcept buyers a year later?

How Often Did Corcept’s Past Falls Pay Off?
More often than not. Since 2010, Corcept stock has recorded 15 falls of more than 30% within 30 trading days. Fourteen of those events have seen a full year pass, and nine left the stock higher a year later. The median result after a year was an 18% gain. The most recent decline, which occurred on December 31, 2025, remains too recent to judge.
Collecting that gain required patience. During the year after a typical decline, the stock’s lowest close was a median 14.8% below the price on the day of the fall. This means a typical buyer spent at least some time underwater during that year. The highest price arrived a median 284 days after the initial drop, or a little over nine months.

Corcept’s Sales Are Still Growing
Growth has accelerated from a year ago. Corcept generated revenue of $256 million in fiscal Q2 2026, up 31.7% from a year earlier. During the same quarter of 2025, revenue grew 18.7%. Korlym and its authorized generic accounted for $208.6 million of the latest quarter, while Lifyorli added $47.6 million in its first quarter on sale.
Management expects more. In July, the company raised its 2026 revenue guide to a range of $1.1 billion to $1.2 billion, and said its Cushing’s syndrome business saw a record number of new prescriptions in the quarter. The guide is a forecast, not a result. Corcept also held $308 million in cash and short-term investments at June 30, compared to $9.42 million of debt.
What Could Keep Corcept Short Of A 40% Gain?
Those typical results conceal a wide spread of outcomes. Five of the 14 past declines left the stock lower a year later, and the worst ended 51% down.
Profit remains the weaker side of the business. Over the twelve months to June, Corcept reported an operating margin of 0.8%, down from 14.2% a year earlier. The company also posted an operating loss in fiscal Q1 2026. At 10.9 times sales, against 3.2 for the S&P 500, a buyer today pays a premium price for that thin profit.
A regulatory decision also lies ahead. The FDA set a decision date of December 17, 2026, on relacorilant for Cushing’s syndrome. Corcept resubmitted that application after the agency sent back the first one at the end of 2025.
Buying the stock now requires believing that shares will recover as they did after most past falls, and that Corcept can maintain the operating profit it returned to in fiscal Q2 2026. Corcept’s operating margin will be the number to watch when the company reports its fiscal Q3 2026 results, expected in November 2026.
