How Far Has Coinbase Fallen In Market Shocks?

Coinbase suffered its deepest decline in a market shock during the 2022 inflation and Fed tightening shock, falling 81% against a 24% drop for the S&P 500. Across the five market shocks it has traded through since listing in April 2021, the stock lost an average of 36.6%, against 13.4% for the S&P 500. The most recent downturn, the 2025 US tariff shock, erased 41% from the stock and 19% from the index.

Coinbase returned to its previous high after all five declines, taking a median of 2.3 months from the low. The slowest rebound occurred in 2022, when the climb back took 20.3 months from the low. Any similar drop would add to the loss holders have already taken.
