Nasdaq’s Equity Options Trading Volumes Continue Strong Growth In Q2
NASDAQ‘s (NASDAQ:NDAQ) strong growth in equity options trading volumes continued in Q2, with around 386 million contracts traded in the U.S. market, in comparison to the prior year quarter’s 221 million shares. The volumes grew at over 70% year-on-year over the past few months. This is primarily due to the massive gain in market share to over 41% from to the acquisition of ISE in the middle of 2016. Moreover, we believe the strengthening of the U.S. dollar and other macro factors contributed to increased volatility in the market, and consequently drove trading volumes.
The company generates around 18% of its revenues from this segment. With around 75% growth in the quarterly volumes, we expect a significant growth in the top line from this segment.
