NASDAQ’s equity options volumes saw strong growth in the U.S. in July, slightly offset by a 12% year on year (y-o-y) decline in Europe. U.S. volumes had been seeing a downward trend throughout the year so far (apart from June), whereas the exchange’s European volumes started the year impressively and declined thereafter.

Going forward, we expect the volumes to remain largely constant or decline in both the regions owing to increased competition and mixed market conditions.
