ArcelorMittal’s Q3 2016 Earnings Review: Cost Reduction Initiatives & Improved Business Conditions In U.S. Boost Results
ArcelorMittal reported improved Q3 results, driven by the company’s cost reduction initiatives and improved business conditions in the U.S. The imposition of antidumping duties on a large proportion of steel imports by U.S. trade authorities has led to a reduction in competition from these steels to the domestic industry. This was reflected in the improvement in realized prices for the NAFTA division. Moreover, ArcelorMittal’s cost reduction initiatives boosted segment results company-wide, offsetting the decline in shipments and realized prices in Brazil and Europe, where weak economic conditions negatively impacted results.
