How Did JetBlue Perform Operationally In July?

JetBlue Corporation (NYSE:JBLU) managed to report good increases in all key operational metrics in July. In the month, the carrier managed to grow its capacity at a rate of 5.9% y-o-y, bringing the year-to-date capacity growth to 4.7%, which is much higher in comparison to its peers. In terms of traffic, revenue passenger miles were up a modest 5.1% y-o-y in July, and 4.6% in the year so far.

Further, revenue passengers were up by about 6.3% y-o-y, and 6.6% in the year-to-date. Like last month, the load factor was down by 70 bps to 87.1%. Additionally, the company managed to report a preliminary completion factor of 97.5%, while its on-time performance came in at 63.5%.

Going forward, the company expects to see the revenue per available seat mile (RASM) to range between (0.5)-2.5%, in comparison to the third quarter of 2016.
